AdvTech Appoints Chairman Leslie Maasdorp as Ceo ADvTECH Limited (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) (Registration number 1990/001119/06) Share code: ADH ISIN: ZAE000031035 ("the Company" or “ADvTECH”) ADvTECH APPOINTS CHAIRMAN LESLIE MAASDORP AS CEO In compliance with Rule 3.59 of the JSE Listing Requirements, ADvTECH shareholders are advised as follows: The board of directors of ADvTECH, the education and recruitment group, announces the appointment of Leslie Maasdorp (chairman of the board of directors) as chief executive officer (CEO) to take over the reins from current CEO Frank Thompson who announced his intention to retire last year. Maasdorp joined the board as an independent non-executive director in 2009 and was appointed chairman in 2010. Maasdorp has more than 24 years’ experience in economic policy making, corporate strategy, and investment banking. He has occupied senior leadership positions in both public and private sectors. He served as Special Advisor to the Minister of Labour and was Deputy Director General of the Department of Public Enterprises. He is the former President of Bank of America Merrill Lynch for Southern Africa and previous Vice Chairman of Absa Capital and Barclays Capital for Africa. In 2002, he became the first African to be appointed as an International Adviser to Goldman Sachs International. In 2007, he was designated by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. “I am honoured and excited by the opportunity to lead ADvTECH in this new capacity as CEO,” said Maasdorp. Leslie Maasdorp will formally take up his position on 24 October 2014, and from today will be working with Frank Thompson to ensure a smooth transition. In light of Maasdorp’s appointment, he has resigned as chairman of the board and Jeff Livingstone, who has been an independent non-executive director since 2008, has been appointed acting chairman.
