Kumba and unions sign three-year wage agreement

Kumba is pleased to announce that the company and its recognised unions with bargaining rights, the National
Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and Solidarity, have signed a three-year wage agreement for bargaining category
employees. The agreement is effective from 1 July 2014 till 30 June 2017 and will provide for increases of
between 8.5% and 10% in the first two years and between 7.5% and 9% in the third.

Negotiations started on 5 June 2014, culminating in the signing of the agreement on 30 July 2014. "We would
like to thank the NUM and Solidarity for the constructive way in which they have approached the negotiations.
While robust and challenging, this demonstrates that the bargaining system is sound and capable of delivering
negotiated agreements that take the needs and priorities of all parties into account," said Norman Mbazima,
Kumba CEO.
