Change to the Board of Directors


The board of directors of Basil Read (the “Board”) is pleased to announce
the appointment of Neville Francis Nicolau as Chief Executive Officer
and Executive Director of the Company, with effect from 1 September 2014.



Mr Nicolau brings 35 years of operating, company leadership and corporate
experience, having previously been the Chief Executive Officer at Anglo
American Platinum Limited and Chief Operating Officer and Executive
Director of Anglogold Ashanti Limited. He has an MBA from the University of
Cape Town, a B Tech, Mining Engineering, from the University of
Johannesburg, completed a Management Development Programme (MDP) at Unisa,
School of Business Leadership, and has a Certificate in Advanced Management
Programme (AMP) from Templeton College, Oxford.



The    Chairman    of   the    Board,   Mr    Lester   Peteni,   welcomed
Mr Nicolau’s appointment saying: “We are delighted to welcome a seasoned
executive of Neville’s caliber to Basil Read. The Board looks forward to
working with Neville to inject new energy into our efforts, as we
continually improve business performance and the strategic transformation
of the Company.”
