Changes to the Board of Directors and Suspension of Shares

In compliance with Section 3.59 of the Listing Requirements of the JSE Limited, Alert Steel’s
shareholders are hereby notified that Ms BS Mahuma has resigned from the Alert Steel board as non-
executive director effective on 2 July 2014. Mr AE Loonat has resigned from the Alert Steel board as
non-executive director effective on 3 July 2014. Ms M Pretorius has resigned as Alert Steel’s company
secretary effective on 3 July 2014. The resignation leaves the company with one executive director
and one non-executive director, with the positions of CEO and CFO vacant.

With only two directors remaining on the Board, and with the Business Rescue Practitioner in control of
the business of the company, the Business Rescue Practitioner has applied to the JSE for the
suspension of trading of Alert’s securities. The application for the suspension of trading of Alert’s
securities has been approved by the JSE with immediate effect.
