APPOINTMENT OF INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


The boards of directors of Nedbank Group and Nedbank Limited are pleased to
announce the appointment of Dr Mantsika Amelia Matooane as an independent
non-executive director with immediate effect.

Mantsika’s background in financial services includes the development of equity
and derivatives trading systems for global investment banking firms and
managing the retail banking customer integration and leading a strategic project
review of customer relationship management at two South African banks.
Mantsika was also previously an economic advisor to the Premier of the North
West Province in South Africa.

Mantsika currently serves as Group Executive: Enterprise Information
Management Services at Transnet SOC Limited, and serves as a non-executive
director of JSE Limited and NMG Consultants and Actuaries (Pty) Limited.
