Director Share Purchases

Coal of Africa Limited (the “Company”) advises that it was informed on 6 May 2014 that on the same day,
Michael Meeser, Executive Director of the Company, purchased 300,000 ordinary shares of no par value in
the Company at an average price of R0.8087c (4.53 pence). Following this acquisition Mr Meeser is now the
beneficial owner of 600,000 shares, representing 0.6% of the Company’s issued share capital.
