Afrox clinches R160m Columbus Stainless contract

African Oxygen Limited (Afrox) has signed a R160 million contract with Columbus
Stainless, Africa’s only producer of stainless steel flat products, to supply oxygen and
nitrogen via pipeline to its works in Witbank. The contract, effective 1 February 2014,
forms part of a settlement reached between Columbus and Afrox. The contract
secures the future of Afrox’s Witbank ASU facilities, which supply merchant liquid
gases as well as oxygen to the healthcare industry.

Brett Kimber, Afrox managing director, said: “I am delighted to confirm we have
signed a seven-year contract extension with Columbus for the continuing supply, via
pipeline, from our Witbank facility. This also secures the future of Afrox’s Witbank
ASU facilities and, with this, additional liquid to the South African market.”

Dave Martin of Columbus commented that the extension of the supply agreement
sustains supply at competitive rates and provides improved reliability for Columbus
with various back-up options to ensure continuity of supply.
