Appointment of Chief Executive Officer Imperial Holdings Limited Registration number: 1946/021048/06 Share code: IPL ISIN: ZAE000067211 (“Imperial”) APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF IMPERIAL Imperial is pleased to announce that Mr Mark James Lamberti (63), BCom, MBA, PPL (Harvard), has been appointed as chief executive officer of Imperial, succeeding Mr Hubert Brody with effect from 1 March 2014. The appointment was made after an extensive search by the Nominations Committee, during which a number of external and internal candidates were considered. Mark was appointed Managing Director of the Makro chain in 1988 and founded Massmart in 1990. He was appointed Executive Chairman of Massmart in 1996 and as CEO and Deputy Chairman in 2003. He relinquished his executive position to become non-executive chairman in 2007. He is a former director of Wooltru, Primedia, Datatec and Altron. Mark currently also serves as non-executive chairman of Transaction Capital where he recently stepped down as the CEO after serving in that position for five years. Mark will in due course relinquish his appointments on the boards of other listed companies. Hubert Brody will remain on the board of Imperial as a non-executive director.
