APPOINTMENT OF NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Board of Directors (“Board”) of Discovery is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Tito Mboweni, as
a non-executive director to the Board, with effect from 1 January 2014.

As former Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, with an academic, political and business career
spanning three decades, Mr Mboweni gained considerable expertise and experience in the fields of economic
and political analysis, macro-level economy strategy, finance, labour relations and public policy and design. He
served as the Minister of Labour in South Africa’s first post-apartheid government from 1994 to 1998, and as
the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank from 1999 to 2009.

In addition to his new appointment, Mr Mboweni also serves as the Chairperson of the boards of Nampak
Limited, AngloGold Ashanti Limited, Accelerate Property Fund and SacOil Holdings Limited and also serves as
the International Adviser to Goldman Sachs International. He holds academic degrees at various universities in
South Africa and abroad. Mr Mboweni brings to the Discovery Board a wealth of expertise and experience in
executive management and strategy development.
