CHANGE IN EXECUTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

As required by section 3.59 (c) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, shareholders are
informed that the Barclays Africa Group Financial Director, David Hodnett, has been
appointed as Deputy Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. In addition to his current
role as Financial Director, he will assume strategic oversight for the Chief Operating Officer’s
portfolio and responsibility for significant group-wide change initiatives.

Commenting on the appointment, Maria Ramos, Chief Executive Officer, said: "David’s
expanded responsibilities will contribute towards driving a significant change programme
across the continent. We are in a strong position to take advantage of the opportunities that
present themselves for the Group.”
