ADDITION TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF EXXARO

In compliance with Section 3.59 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, shareholders
of diversified resources group Exxaro are advised of the appointment of Dr Constatinus
Johannes Fauconnier as an independent non-executive director to the Board of Directors
of Exxaro (“the Board”) effective 1 November 2013.

Dr Fauconnier is very well known in the mining industry. He started his career around
1969 as, amongst others, graduate engineer, technical assistant, mine overseer and
underground manager for various mining companies in the Anglo American Group. He
gained extensive experience in large mining companies as Chief Executive of Kumba
Resources Limited, as well as Chief Executive Officer of Exxaro from 2001 – 2007. He
possesses solid business knowledge and experience that Exxaro will capitalise on.

Dr Fauconnier holds four degrees in Mining Engineering including a Doctorate from the
University of Pretoria, has completed an MBA from the University of Oregon, USA, as well
as the Strategic Leadership Programme from the University of Oxford in the UK.

The Board welcomes Dr Fauconnier to the team and look forward to his contribution.
