Luigi, along with his son and current Taste CEO Carlo Gonzaga, co-founded Scooters Pizza in September 2000, which was the founding entity of what is now Taste Holdings Limited. In the 13 years that Luigi has been with the group, he has been actively involved in an executive capacity in all aspects of the business and has additionally been a franchisee of the group for most of those years. As a founding board member and shareholder, Luigi has been part of the team that has seen the business grow from one Scooters Pizza outlet in 2000 into a vertically integrated group of more than 620 outlets throughout Southern Africa with system wide sales of over R1.3 billion annually. While Luigi will retire from the board, his empathy, humour and founding spirit of entrepreneurship will endure in the group’s culture and values.
