Change to the board of directors

Standard Bank Group announces the resignation of Mr Peter Wharton-Hood as an executive
director of the Group with immediate effect. Peter will take up another senior
appointment in the financial services industry in September 2013.

The board of directors extends its appreciation to Peter for his 16 years of
substantial contribution to Standard Bank Group and wishes him well in his new
position.
