DIVIDEND ANNOUNCEMENT ON ANGLO AMERICAN PLC HOT ENHANCED DIVIDEND SECURITIES –
(“AGLIHL”)


With reference to the dividend announcement, the Directors of Anglo American plc have declared an interim
dividend of 312.512 cents per ordinary share be payable on Thursday, 12 September 2013 to ordinary
shareholders, recorded in the books of the company at the close of business on Friday, 16 August 2013.

In terms of the new Dividend Tax effective 1 April 2012, the following additional information is disclosed:

1)   local dividend tax rate is 15%;and
2)   no STC credits available; and
3)   net local dividend amount is 265.635 cents per share for shareholders liable to pay the new Dividends Tax;
     and 312.512 cents per share for shareholders exempt from paying the new Dividends Tax; and
4)   the issued share capital of Anglo American Plc is 1,405,465,332 ordinary shares; and
5)   Investec Bank Limited Income Tax Number: 9675/053/71/5, and
6)   Anglo South Africa Capital (Pty) Limited Tax Registration Number: 9273/364/84/5. Anglo South Africa Capital
     (Pty) Limited will distribute the dividend in South Africa.


Accordingly, the holders of AGLIHL will receive an Anglo American plc dividend amount on Thursday, 12
September 2013 in terms of the Cession clause incorporated in the Supplement between the holders and Investec
Bank Limited. The last day to trade (“cum” the dividend) in order to participate in the dividend is Thursday, 8
August 2013.

AGLIHL Hot Enhanced Dividend Securities will commence trading “ex” the dividend from the commencement of
business on Monday, 12 August 2013, and the record date will be Friday, 16 August 2013.
