Trading Statement Chemical Specialities Limited Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa Registration number 2005/039947/06 Share code: CSP ISIN: ZAE000109427 ("Chemspec" or "the Company") TRADING STATEMENT In terms of the JSE Limited, companies are required to publish a trading statement as soon as they are satisfied that a reasonable degree of certainty exists that the financial results for the period to be reported upon next will differ by at least 20% from the financial results for the previous corresponding period. Accordingly, shareholders are advised that, for the year ended 31 March 2013, ChemSpec expects that the headline loss will be between 2.75 cents per share and 3.16 cents per share compared to the headline loss of 2.06 cents per share reported in the previous corresponding period. Loss per share is expected to be between 2.70 cents per share and 3.12 cents per share compared to the loss of 2.13 cents per share as reported in the previous corresponding period. While this is disappointing shareholders should bear in mind that the group has gone through major restructure and turnaround over the last two years which management and the board are confident will bear fruit in the coming financial year. The company is well capitalized, has a strong executive team in place and continues to experience market share growth particularly in the South African market. While we had hoped a return to profit had been earlier we still remain confident of rewarding patient medium to long term investors and we would hope that shareholders see this loss as a base setter for a prosperous future rather than as a negative. The information on which the above trading statement has been provided has not been reviewed or reported on by the company’s auditors. The audited results for the year ended 31 March 2013 are expected to be released on SENS on or about 19 June 2013.
