ANNOUNCEMENT
11 April 2013

Transnet Freight Rail confirm re-opening of Matola Corridor

Further to the announcement of 11 April 2013 regarding the re-opening of the Matola Corridor, Coal of Africa Limited
(the “Company" or "CoAL") advises that Transnet Freight Rail (“TFR”) has now officially confirmed that the line is
expected to be re-opened and operational from 19 April 2013. The bridge will be opened after the accreditation
process is completed by the Mozambique rail operator, Portos é Caminhos de Ferro de Mozambique engineers.

TFR has stated that track repairs will continue for several months whilst the line is operational. The Company still
anticipates that exports will resume during May 2013 and the force majeure will remain in effect until the rail system
has reached its normal operating capacity.
