SANTAM APPOINTS NEW CHAIRPERSON


South Africa’s leading short term insurer, Santam, is pleased to announce the
appointment of Mr Grant Gelink as its chairperson with effect from 30 May 2013,
replacing Mr Vusi Khanyile who will step down from the board on 29 May 2013.


Mr Gelink (“Grant”) joined the Santam board as an Independent Non-Executive Director
on 1 June 2012. He has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), National Diploma in Public
Administration, Higher Diploma in Education and Bachelor of Accounting Science
(Honours).


Grant is an experienced chartered accountant and was a member of the Deloitte &
Touche Executive Committee since July 1999. He served as chief executive of Deloitte
Southern Africa from 1 June 2006 until his retirement from this position on 31 May 2012.
Grant is also a member of Santam’s Audit and Risk Committees and serves as chairman
of the company’s Investment Committee.


Mr Ian Kirk Chief Executive of Santam says he is pleased with Mr Gelink’s appointment
as chairman. “We look forward to the further contribution Grant will make to the company
during his tenure as chairman. With his expertise and experience, he is certainly a huge
asset to the company.”
