PRIVATE PLACEMENT

Subject to pricing acceptable to Ascension, Ascension proposes an equity raise of up to R150 million through
the issue of new Ascension A and B linked units by way of a private placement and under its general authority
to issue its linked units for cash, as approved by shareholders at the annual general meeting held on
12 December 2012 (“the private placement”).

The private placement will be offered to South African investors through an accelerated book build process.

The private placement opens at 09h00 on Tuesday, 26 March 2013 and may close at any time thereafter.
