TRADING STATEMENT

In terms of paragraph 3.4(b) of the JSE Listings Requirements,
companies are required to publish a trading statement, as soon
as they are satisfied that a reasonable degree of certainty
exists, that the financial results for the period to be
reported on next will differ by 20% or more from the financial
results for the previous corresponding period.

The directors of SELCo hereby notify shareholders that the
company’s earnings and headline earnings per share for the six
months ended 31 December 2012 is expected to be between 0.83
cents and 1.24 cents (six months ended 31 December 2012: 4.05
cents loss and headline loss per share).

This increase can largely be ascribed to the fact that the
electricity rates increase was passed timeously for
implementation by the Electricity Control Board of Namibia and
this contributed to the increase of SELCo’s earnings for the
period.

The financial information on which this trading statement is
based has not been reviewed or reported on by the SELCo’s
auditors. The interim results is expected to be published on
or about 30 March 2013.
