DIVIDEND DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCEMENT IN RELATION TO THE AGL SHARE INSTALMENT

Notice is hereby given of the dividend amount payable for ANGLO AMERICAN PLC and that as a
result of the dividend declaration relating to ANGLO AMERICAN PLC (AGL) the Trustees of the Share
Instalment Trust have declared a dividend amount of 470.38 cents per AGLNNG share instalment
that is payable on Thursday, 25 April 2013. The dividend is subject to a local tax of 15 per cent. No
STC credits were utilized. This results in a net dividend of 399.82 cents per share instalment. The
final payment will be rounded to two decimal places.

The last day to trade cum-dividend is Thursday, 14 March 2013. The Share Instalment will commence
trading ex-dividend from Friday, 15 March 2013. The record date will be Friday, 22 March 2013.
