APPOINTMENT OF AN ACTING CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

Shareholders are referred to the announcement released on SENS on
28 November 2012 advising of the passing of the chairman of the
board, Professor Jakes Gerwel. The board of directors’ wish to
advise that Mustaq Brey has been appointed as acting chairman of
the board with immediate effect. He has also been appointed as a
member and chairman of the nominations committee for the duration
of his tenure as acting chairman of the board. The board will
commence with a process to identify and appoint a permanent
chairman of the board. Mr Brey will serve as acting chairman
until the appointment of a permanent chairman is confirmed.

Mr Brey was first appointed to the board of Life Healthcare on 28
November 2003. He is a founder member and chief executive officer
of Brimstone. He is a chartered accountant and currently serves on
the boards of Oceana Fishing Group Limited, the Scientific Group,
Lion of Africa Insurance Company Limited and Nedbank Limited. He
serves on the audit committee of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation and
chairs the capital and risk committee for Nedbank.
