PRODUCTION RAMP UP CONTINUES AT SISHEN MINE

Kumba confirms that production at the Company’s Sishen Mine continues
to ramp up following the end of the illegal occupation of the mine by
a small group of striking employees on Tuesday, 16 October 2012.
Sishen’s normal shift roster was restored towards the end of last
week. In the first instance, employees reported for a two-day safety
induction and certain mining activities resumed on Saturday, 20
October 2012. However, employee attendance rates in the mining
production area are on average still lower than 50%, which is less
than what is required for the full operation of the mine. The South
African Police Service is maintaining a strong presence in the areas
around the mine and incidences of intimidation are being reported to
them. The Company will provide a further update when it publishes its
3Q2012 production statement on Thursday, 25 October 2012.
