TRADING STATEMENT

In accordance with paragraph 3.4(b) of the Listings Requirements
of the JSE Limited, a company is required to publish a trading
statement as soon as it becomes aware, with a reasonable degree of
certainty, that the financial results for the next period to be
reported on are likely to vary by more than 20% from the previous
corresponding period.

Shareholders are advised that ChemSpec expects to return to profit
for the six month period ended 30 September 2012.

Headline earnings for the six month period to 30 September 2012 is
expected to be between 0.05 cents per share and 0.11 cents per
share compared to the headline loss of 3.59 cents per share
reported in the previous corresponding period. Earnings per share
for the six month period to 30 September 2012 is expected to be
between 0.05 cents per share and 0.11 cents per share compared to
the loss of 3.62 cents per share as reported in the previous
corresponding period.

The information contained in this trading statement has not been
reviewed or reported on by the company’s external auditors.

ChemSpec will release its interim results for the six month period
ended 30 September 2012 on or about 31 October 2012.
