UPDATE: VILLAGE REACHES AGREEMENT WITH ITS BLYVOOR EMPLOYEES TO RETURN TO WORK

Village advises that the Company has reached agreement with its employees at its Blyvooruitzicht gold mine
near Carletonville, to suspend the illegal strike and return to work on 17 October 2012. Most of the Blyvoor
employees have honoured the agreement, with 772 employees out of a complement of 941 reporting for the
morning shift today.

The employees, who did not report for work, have until Thursday 18 October 2012 to appeal against their
dismissals.
