Notification made in accordance with Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the Disclosure Rules
and Transparency Rules.
1. The Company was notified on 28 September 2012 of the following change in the
interests in ordinary shares of British American Tobacco p.l.c. in respect of the
undermentioned executive director and person discharging managerial responsibility
(“PDMR”) arising from the purchase of ordinary shares at a price of 3,216.39 pence per
ordinary share on 26 September 2012 through the Company’s Dividend Reinvestment
Plan (the “DRIP”):

2. The Company was notified on 28 September 2012 by the trustee of the British American
Tobacco Employee Share Ownership Plan (the “UK Plan”) that on 26 September 2012
ordinary shares of 25p each in British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the “Shares”) were
purchased for the following executive directors and persons discharging managerial
responsibilities (together the “Participants”) at a price of 3,216.39 pence per Share as a
result of the reinvestment of dividends by the trustee in accordance with the UK Plan.

3. The Company was notified on 28 September 2012 that on 26 September 2012 the
following persons discharging managerial responsibilities (together the “Participants”)
acquired ordinary shares of 25p each in British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the “Shares”)
at a price of 3,216.39 pence per Share as a result of the reinvestment of the cash
equivalent of the Company’s 2012 interim dividend on shares held on their behalf by
Computershare Company Nominees Limited as administrator of the Company’s vested
share account.
