FURTHER TRADING STATEMENT

Sovereign shareholders (“Shareholders”) are referred to the announcement published on SENS on
30 August 2012 where they were advised that headline earnings per share (“HEPS”) and basic
earnings per share (“EPS”) for the six months ended 31 August 2012 (“HY2013”) were expected to
be at least 7 cents per share.

Sovereign reported HEPS and EPS of 0.7 cents for the six months ended 31 August 2011.

In accordance with the JSE Limited Listings Requirements and further to the above,
shareholders are advised that HEPS for HY2013 is expected to be between 14.85 cents per
share and 18.15 cents per share and EPS for HY2013 is expected to be between 13.50 cents
per share and 16.50 cents per share.

The financial information upon which this trading statement is based has not been reviewed or
reported on by the Company's auditors.

The results for HY2013 are expected to be published on or about 1 October 2012.
