Lonrho Plc announces that, with immediate effect, David Lenigas, the Company’s Executive Chairman,
has stepped down from the Board to concentrate on his role as Executive Chairman of FastJet Plc and

He has been succeeded as Chairman of the Company by Ambassador Frances Cook, who is currently

Lonrho Plc.

Ambassador Cook is a former U.S. Ambassador to Burundi, to Cameroon and to the Sultanate of Oman,

Department of State, including Director for West Africa. She entered the private sector in 1999 and
runs an international business consulting firm, The Ballard Group LLC.

Ambassador Cook is a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Center for Naval Analyses, and a member of
the Council on Foreign Relations and Phi Beta Kappa Alumni. She also serves on the Board of Trustees
of Center for American Overseas Research Centers, and the Institute for American Universities.

Mr Lenigas will receive 8,138,352 shares in Lonrho in lieu of notice and other benefits. He retains his
existing options in the Company.

Ambassador Cook, Non-Executive Chairman, commented:

“I am honored to be taking over the leadership of this historic Company at this time of great
opportunity in Africa and for Africans. Lonrho operates in five strategic sectors that are all critical to
Africa’s growth and development.”

Geoffrey White, Lonrho’s CEO, commented:

“David has spent seven years successfully developing Lonrho into a company uniquely focused on
Africa with operations across the Continent employing thousands and stimulating development and
growth. Under his tenure the Company successfully transitioned from the AIM market to the Main

Plc, the low cost airline for Africa in which Lonrho is a significant shareholder.

“We welcome Ambassador Cook as the Chairman of Lonrho and look forward to continuing to benefit
from her extensive knowledge of Africa.
“With the appointment of Ambassador Cook as the Non-Executive Chairman of the Company, the
