DECLARED INTERIM DIVIDEND ANNOUNCEMENT ON BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO PLC (“BRITISH AMERICAN”)
ENHANCED DIVIDEND SECURITIES – (“BTIIDA”)


With reference to the dividend announcement, the Directors of British American have declared an interim dividend
of 42.2 pence per ordinary share payable on Wednesday, 26 September 2012 to ordinary shareholders, recorded
in the books of the company at the close of business on Friday, 17 August 2012.

The currency exchange rate applicable for the dividend is GBP: ZAR = 13.10720 as at 23 July 2012.

In terms of the new Dividend Tax effective 1 April 2012, the following additional information is disclosed:

1)   local dividend tax rate is 15%;
2)   no STC credits available for utilisation;
3)   net local dividend amount is 470.15526 cents per share for shareholders liable to pay the new Dividends Tax
     and 553.12384 cents per share for shareholders exempt from paying the new Dividends Tax;
4)   the issued share capital of British American is 2,026,255,032 ordinary shares; and
5)   the British American tax reference number is 9378193172


Accordingly, the holders of BTIIDA will receive an interim dividend amount per ordinary share on Wednesday, 26
September 2012 in terms of the Cession clause incorporated in the Supplement between the holders and Investec
Bank Limited. The last day to trade (“cum” the dividend) in order to participate in the dividend will be Friday 10
August 2012.

BTIIDA Enhanced Dividend Securities will commence trading “ex” the dividend from the commencement of
business on Monday 13 August 2012, and the record date will be Friday, 17 August 2012.
