TRADING STATEMENT IN TERMS OF PARAGRAPH 3.4 (b) OF THE JSE LISTINGS REQUIREMENTS

The following statement is made with reference to the requirements of section 3.4 of the JSE Listings
Requirements.

The Directors are satisfied that a reasonable degree of certainty exists that Liberty Holdings'
headline earnings per share and basic earnings per share attributable to ordinary shareholders for
the six months ended 30 June 2012 will be between 570c and 650c (June 2011 440c). BEE
normalised headline earnings per share attributable to ordinary shareholders for the same period
will be between 535c and 610c (June 2011 412c). The main reason for the increase in earnings
compared to the prior period relates to the positive performance of the shareholders investment
