                                    ANNOUNCEMENT




Northam shareholders are advised that an unauthorised land occupation on the farm
Schaapkraal 42JT to the east of the Booysendal mine has resulted in delays to the
installation of a permanent power supply to the Booysendal mine.


Eskom's sub-contractors are being prevented from completing the installation of a power
line on an Eskom servitude from the national Eskom grid to the Booysendal mine.


The company and Eskom are taking steps to protect their rights and to minimise further
delays.
