SABMiller plc - Directorate Change
SABMiller announces today that Rob Pieterse, who has been an independent
non-executive director since 2008, will be retiring from the board with effect
from the date of this year`s annual general meeting on 26 July 2012.
Rob Pieterse was appointed as an independent non-executive director of SABMiller
plc in May 2008, following the acquisition of Royal Grolsch N.V., and has since
served with distinction both as a member of the board and of the Corporate
Accountability and Risk Assurance Committee. Rob has expressed his desire to
reduce his external commitments, and hence by mutual agreement he will stand
down from the board and not offer himself for re-election at the annual general
meeting in July 2012. Rob will however continue to be associated with the Group
in his capacity as Chairman of the supervisory board of Royal Grolsch N.V. in
the Netherlands.
Commenting on Rob Pieterse`s retirement, SABMiller`s chairman, Meyer Kahn, said:
"Rob has been a diligent director and it saddens me to have to accept his
decision to retire from the Board and not to stand for re-election for another
year. I have the highest personal regard for Rob, and we were fortunate indeed
to persuade him to join our board following the Grolsch acquisition in 2008. It
has been an honour to serve with him these past four years, and I am very
pleased that the group will at least continue to have the benefit of his wisdom
on Grolsch`s supervisory board."
