Peter is the Chief Executive Officer of Tiger Brands Limited. He is the previous Executive Director of Commercial at Vodacom SA Proprietary Limited, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer of Vodacom Group Limited and Chief Executive Officer of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). He began his career with the Urban Foundation and Citibank, and gained international experience in the USA and Europe. Referring to the new appointment, Absa Group Chairman, Garth Griffin, said: "I am very pleased to welcome Peter to the Absa Group and Absa Bank boards. He brings to Absa his wide leadership experience in diverse corporate sectors and we look forward to his contribution to the Absa Group." Mrs Sarita Martin has resigned as company secretary of Absa Group and Absa Bank with effect from 9 January 2012. She has accepted a position outside Absa. Mrs Martin joined Absa as company secretary in January 2008. An announcement on her successor will be made in due course.
