APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR                                           
Capital Shopping Centres Group PLC ("CSC") is pleased to announce the           
appointment of Lady Patten to the Board as a non-executive director and         
member of the Remuneration Committee.                                           
Louise began her career at Citibank, working mainly in retail financial         
services until she joined Bain & Company Inc in 1993 where since 1997 she       
has been a Senior Adviser. She has held non-executive directorship roles        
at a number of companies, including Marks & Spencer plc, GUS plc, Hilton        
Group plc and Harveys Furnishings plc and has also served as Chairman of        
Brixton plc and as interim Chairman of Somerfield plc.  She is currently        
a non-executive director of UK Asset Resolution and of Control Risks            
Group.

Company on the Board and in the Remuneration Committee."                        
Following Louise Patten`s appointment to the Remuneration Committee there       
will be three independent non-executive directors on that Committee.  The       
company will therefore be in compliance with the UK Corporate Governance        
Code in relation to the composition of the Remuneration Committee.              
At the date of appointment, Louise Patten owns 10,000 shares in CSC.            
There are no other matters relating to her under the listing obligations        
which require disclosure.
