The incident occurred on 13 September 2011 on number 50 level. In terms of section 54 of the Mine Health and Safety Act (South Africa), the Department of Mineral Resources has issued an instruction to withdraw all workers from the reef horizon until such time as an investigation into the incident has been completed. Accordingly, underground mining activity at the Ezulwini Mine has been suspended. The Company has extended its sincere condolences to the family, friends and co- workers of the deceased.
