SAH - South African Coal Mining Holdings Limited - Continuous miner machine trapped underground South African Coal Mining Holdings Limited (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) Registration number 1994/009012/06 Share code: SAH ISIN: ZAE000102034 ("SACMH" or "the company") CONTINUOUS MINER MACHINE TRAPPED UNDERGROUND Shareholders are informed that there was a fall-of-ground at the company`s Umlabu/Mooifontein underground mining operations on 7 July 2011. Nobody was injured but the continuous miner machine was trapped underground. Various attempts have been made to recover the machine, but to date all attempts have failed. The recovery team is confident that the machine will be recovered before the weekend. Mining of the current underground section is nearing completion and consequently production lost to date is in the order of 7,820 ROM tons out of an expected 68,000 ROM production of both opencast and underground mining. It is too early to determine the impact on future production. The condition of the underground continuous miner machine will be determined once it is extracted. The company`s open cast operations continue production as usual. 20 July 2011 Johannesburg Sponsor Exchange Sponsors Date: 20/07/2011 13:25:37 Supplied by www.sharenet.co.za Produced by the JSE SENS Department.
