MUR - Murray & Roberts Holdings - Appointment of chief executive designate MURRAY & ROBERTS HOLDINGS LIMITED (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) Registration number 1948/029826/06 JSE Share Code: MUR ISIN: ZAE000073441 ("Murray & Roberts" or "Group") APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE DESIGNATE Following the announcement by the board of directors of Murray & Roberts ("Board") on 23 February 2011 that chief executive Brian Bruce and financial director Roger Rees will retire at the end of the current financial year (30 June 2011), the Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Henry Laas as chief executive designate in succession to Brian Bruce. Henry was appointed a director of Murray & Roberts Limited and Murray & Roberts International Limited during 2007 and will be appointed as an executive director of Murray & Roberts Holdings Limited from 1 April 2011. More recently, Henry was appointed as executive chairman of the Group`s Engineering Cluster of businesses. His appointment follows an extensive domestic and international search for candidates. The Board is pleased that an internal candidate has been selected and is confident that Henry is the best executive to lead Murray & Roberts into the future. Henry is 51 years old and holds a B.Eng (Mining) degree from the University of Pretoria and an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand. Henry has extensive experience in the mineral resources and mining contracting sectors and was managing director of Murray & Roberts Cementation and its predecessor RUC Mining Contractors for 10 years since joining the Group in March 2001. During this period he significantly improved the overall performance profile of the company, strengthening its position in South Africa. He also played an instrumental role in the global expansion of the Cementation Group which is internationally recognised as the world`s leading underground mining contracting company with operations in Africa, Australia, Asia and the America`s and has a strong track record of successful mine project delivery worldwide. This appointment allows an orderly handover of responsibility for the future of Murray & Roberts over the three months to 30 June 2011, including the appointment of a finance director successor to Roger Rees.
