CSB - Cashbuild - Third quarter operational update - FY 2010 CASHBUILD LIMITED (Registration number: 1986/001503/06) (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) JSE share code: CSB ISIN: ZAE000028320 ("Cashbuild" or "the company") THIRD QUARTER OPERATIONAL UPDATE - FY 2010 In line with past practice and disclosure, Cashbuild herewith provides its quarterly trading update. Revenue for the company was up by 4% on the third quarter of the prior financial year. Stores opened since 1 July 2008 (new stores - 18 stores) contributed 3% of the increase, whilst existing stores (169 stores) contributed 1%. This, together with the growth reported in the first half, equates to an increase in revenue year to date of 7%. Transactions through the tills during the third quarter increased by 7% with new stores adding 4% and existing stores increasing by 3%. Units sold for the quarter increased by 5% (Half year: 0% increase). Existing stores for the quarter increased by 2% (Half year: 5% decrease). No new stores were opened during this quarter. In line with our strategy, one store was closed (trading in close proximity to an existing store), bringing the number of stores trading at the end of the quarter to 187. No stores were refurbished or relocated during this quarter. In addition to the factual part of the operational update given above, the following paragraphs will only deal with indicative information. Prospects Management expects trading conditions to become more competitive for the fourth quarter of this financial year. Gross margin percentage improved compared to levels experienced during the first half of the financial year. Selling inflation for the quarter remained at levels of around 1%.
