SUSPENSION OF TRADE IN MTN SECURITIES                                           
The JSE has been requested by MTN to suspend trading in its securities until the
commencement of business on Thursday, 1 October 2009.                           
Information has been released in India by Bharti Airtel Limited ("Bharti")      
relating to the potential transaction between MTN and Bharti. MTN will release  
an announcement as soon as possible.
