Notification of acceptance of options by an Executive Committee Member of       
Massmart                                                                        
In compliance with rules 3.63 to 3.66 of the JSE Listings Requirements, we      
hereby advise that options in Massmart Holdings securities have been offered to 
an Executive Committee Member. These options were offered on 27 October 2008 at 
a strike price of R72.4185 being the 5 day volume weighted average price on 24  
October 2008, in terms of the rules of the Massmart Holdings Limited Employee   
Share Trust. This offer was approved by the Massmart Holdings Remuneration and  
Nominations Committee.                                                          
The total allocation of these options is 376,976. The acceptance date of the    
options by the beneficiary listed below is 03 March 2009. These options are     
exercisable as to one quarter each in October 2010, October 2011, October 2012  
and in October 2013.
