FSRP - FirstRand - Dividend declaration of 518.940 cents per variable rate non- cumulative, non-redeemable Firstrand B Preference share FirstRand Limited (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) Registration number: 1966/010753/06 B Preference share code: FSRP ISIN: ZAE000060141 ("FirstRand") DIVIDEND DECLARATION OF 518.940 CENTS PER VARIABLE RATE NON-CUMULATIVE, NON-REDEEMABLE FIRSTRAND B PREFERENCE SHARE Shareholders are advised that the salient dates for the ninth dividend declaration on the variable rate non-cumulative, non-redeemable B preference shares in FirstRand ("B preference shares"), in the amount of 518.940 cents per B preference share, will be as follows: Last day to trade Friday, 13 February 2009 Shares commence trading "ex" the B preference share dividend from the Monday, 16 February 2009 commencement of business on Record date Friday, 20 February 2009 Payment date of the B preference share dividend Monday, 23 February 2009 B Preference share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between Monday, 16 February 2009 and Friday, 20 February 2009, both days inclusive. In the event that there is a change to the prime rate between the B preference share dividend declaration date ("the dividend declaration date") and the B preference share dividend payment date ("the dividend payment date"), the prevailing prime rate at the dividend declaration date will be applied from the dividend declaration date to the dividend payment date. The effect of the aforementioned will be that the B preference share dividend will not be adjusted for any changes in the prime rate between the dividend declaration date and the dividend payment date.
