FSPP - FirstRand Limited - Dividend Declaration Of 511,3 Cents Per Variable Rate Non-Cumulative, Non-Redeemable Firstrand B1 Preference Share FirstRand Limited (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) Registration number: 1966/010753/06 B1 Preference share code: FSPP & ISIN: ZAE000070900 ("FirstRand") DIVIDEND DECLARATION OF 511,3 CENTS PER VARIABLE RATE NON-CUMULATIVE, NON- REDEEMABLE FIRSTRAND B1 PREFERENCE SHARE Shareholders are advised that the salient dates for the seventh dividend declaration on the variable rate non-cumulative, non-redeemable B1 preference shares in FirstRand ("B1 preference shares"), in the amount of 511,3 cents per B1 preference share, will be as follows: Last day to trade Friday, 15 August 2008 Shares commence trading "ex" the B1 Monday, 18 August 2008 preference share dividend from the commencement of business on Record date Friday, 22 August 2008 Payment date of the B1 preference share dividend Monday, 25 August 2008 B1 Preference share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between Monday, 18 August 2008 and Friday, 22 August 2008, both days inclusive. In the event that there is a change to the prime rate between the B1 preference share dividend declaration date ("the dividend declaration date") and the B1 preference share dividend payment date ("the dividend payment date"), the prevailing prime rate at the dividend declaration date will be applied from the dividend declaration date to the dividend payment date. The effect of the aforementioned will be that the B1 preference share dividend will not be adjusted for any changes in the prime rate between the dividend declaration date and the dividend payment date.
