DECLARATION OF PREFERENCE DIVIDENDS                                             
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following preference dividends have been        
declared for the six months to 29 February 2008, payable on Monday, 10 March    
2008.                                                                           
The last day on which shares will trade cum dividend will be Friday, 29 February
2008.  Shoprite Holdings Ltd preference shares will trade ex dividend as from   
Monday, 3 March 2008.   The record date will be Friday, 7 March 2008.           
Share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between Monday, 3
March 2008 and Friday, 7 March 2008, both days inclusive.
