CSB - Cashbuild Limited - Second Quarter Operational Update CASHBUILD LIMITED (Registration number: 1986/001503/06) (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) JSE share code: CSB & ISIN: ZAE000028320 ("Cashbuild" or "the company") SECOND QUARTER OPERATIONAL UPDATE - FY 2008 Cashbuild is currently in the process of finalising its results for the half- year ended December 2007. In line with past practice and disclosure, Cashbuild herewith provides its quarterly trading update. Revenue for the company was up by 15% on the second quarter of the prior financial year. Stores opened since 1 July 2006 (new stores - 17 stores) contributed 6% of the increase, whilst existing stores (149 stores) contributed 9%. This, together with the growth reported in quarter one, equates to an increase in revenue for the half year of 15%. Transactions through the tills during the 2nd quarter increased by 12% with new stores adding 6% and existing stores 6%. Half year increased by 12%, new stores adding 7% and existing stores 5%. Units sold decreased by 2% (Q1: 6% decrease). Existing stores decreased by 7% (Q1: 12% decrease). Half year decreased by 4%, existing stores decreasing by 10%. Two new stores were opened during this quarter (half year two stores) bringing the number of stores trading at the end of the half year period to 166. One store was relocated during this quarter, as well as five stores refurbished. In addition to the factual part of the operational update given above, the following paragraphs will only deal with indicative information. Prospects Management is pleased by the positive trading experienced in all the regions over the traditionally good festive season. The release of the half year results is expected during the week commencing 17 March 2008.
