TRADING UPDATE                                                                  
The Directors of Bell advise that the unaudited management accounts for the     
nine months ended 30 September 2007 reflect an improvement in profitability     
after tax, up from R187,4 million in September 2006 to R315,1 million. This     
translates into earnings per share of 332 cents (September 2006 : 198 cents)    
and headline earnings per share of 332 cents as compared to 198 cents for the   
nine months ended 30 September 2006.                                            
A summary of the unaudited abridged financial statements for the period ended   
30 September 2007 will be posted on our investor relations website
