PPC - Pretoria Portland Cement Company Limited - Presentation By PPC At The Intercem Conference In Cape Town Pretoria Portland Cement Company Limited (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) (Company registration number 1892/000667/06) JSE code: PPC ISIN: ZAE000005559 PRESENTATION BY PPC AT THE INTERCEM CONFERENCE IN CAPE TOWN PPC is giving a presentation on the outlook for regional cement supply and demand at the first Intercem Sub-Saharan Africa Cement Conference in Cape Town today. Regional cement demand growth has averaged about 2% per annum over the last 30 years increasing from 7 million tons in 1975 to 11.5 million tons in 2005. Demand has increased by 50% over the last 4 years. The outlook is for demand to increase to approximately 24 million tons in 2014, according to PPC`s cement industry forecast based on the average economic forecasts of a number of leading banks and economists. These forecasts are driven by the significant infrastructure development planned in South Africa with the government`s target of 4.5% to 6% GDP growth per annum and targeted Gross Fixed Capital Formation of 25% of GDP by 2014. Significant projects are under construction or planned that will drive the demand for cement. The most significant of these is the investment in housing with anticipated demand of nearly 16 million tons in total between 2007 and 2014. Industry capacity plans are in place and under investigation to meet the increased demand of 24 million tons by 2014. The industry is bringing 2.25 million tons of new capacity on line by the middle of next year. As previously announced, PPC is upgrading and expanding capacity from the current annual capacity of 6.9 million tons to 8.4 million tons by mid 2009. These increases are from the company`s Dwaalboom and Hercules expansions. The planned new factory at Riebeeck West in the Western Cape Province is currently in the pre- feasibility and EIA approval stage. There are also studies underway for the next Inland Region expansion. A technical presentation will also be made on PPC`s Dwaalboom project tomorrow, 20 September 2007. No new or material PPC information is disclosed in the presentations. The presentation on the outlook for cement supply and demand can be found on the company`s website www.ppc.co.za today. The Dwaalboom presentation will be available from tomorrow. 19 September 2007 Sponsor: J.P.Morgan Equities Limited Date: 19/09/2007 10:00:01 Supplied by www.sharenet.co.za Produced by the JSE SENS Department.
