Return to work at Marikana operations                                           
Lonmin announces that the substantial majority of the workforce at the Group`s  
Marikana operations have returned to work following the unlawful and unprotected
strike action initiated by the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) on Sunday 19 
August.  Lonmin is committed to continuing to work with NUM to resolve the      
issues underlying the situation.                                                
Lonmin`s estimate of the impact on production of the strike action to date is in
the range of 25,000 to 30,000 ounces of Platinum.   Due to the strike action    
impacting our Process Division as well as the Marikana Mining operations this   
lost production will principally impact sales in the current financial year.
