    Cautionary announcement                                                     
    Shareholders of York ("Shareholders") are advised that the Company is       
    currently in a tender process to acquire a 70% stake in Global Forest       
Products and South African Plywood ("GFP"). GFP is a company that consists  
    of a valuable forestry asset of some 57 000 ha of plantations, as well as   
    three sawmills and one plywood mill.  Accordingly, Shareholders are advised 
    to exercise caution when dealing in the Company`s securities until a        
further announcement is made.
