In accordance with DTR5 of the Disclosure and Transparency Rules, Lonmin Plc has
today received notification from Capital Research and Management Company        
("CRMC") that as at 24 January 2007 their interest in the Company`s share       
capital has decreased to 7,291,700 ordinary shares of US$1 each representing    
4.72% of the total voting rights and capital in the Company.                    
The interest in the relevant share capital of Lonmin arises by virtue of        
holdings attributed to CRMC.  These holdings form part of funds managed on      
behalf of investment clients by CRMC.
