KIO - Kumba Iron Ore Limited - Trading statement Kumba Iron Ore Limited A member of the Anglo American plc group (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) (Registration number: 2005/015852/06) Share code: KIO & ISIN: ZAE000085346 ("Kumba" or "the Company") Trading statement for the two months ended 31 December 2006 Shareholders are advised that Kumba will report on the financial results and position of the Company for the two months since listing in November 2006. Headline earnings for this period are expected to be between R250 million and R275 million. Basic earnings for the two months ended 31 December 2006 are expected to be between R350 million and R400 million. Headline and basic earnings have been adversely impacted by once off costs of approximately R150 million arising from the implementation of the Kumba Resources Limited (renamed Exxaro Resources Limited) empowerment transaction, as detailed in the pre- listing statement to Kumba shareholders issued on 9 October 2006. The pre-listing statement contained audited pro forma financial information for the financial year ended 31 December 2005. Unaudited comparative figures for the twelve months ended 31 December 2006 will be provided as an annexure to the annual report solely for information purposes. On a comparative basis the headline earnings for the twelve months ended 31 December 2006 are expected to be between R2,5 billion and R2,7 billion. Basic earnings are expected to be between R4,1 billion and R4,4 billion. The results for the two months ended 31 December 2006 are scheduled for release on 15 February 2007.
