In compliance with section 3.22 of the JSE limited Listings Requirements,       
shareholders are advised as follows:                                            
Annual report                                                                   
Further to Shoprite"s year end results for the 52 weeks ended June 2006,        
published on 23 August 2006, the annual report was posted on 30 September 2006. 
The annual report contains no modifications to the aforementioned published year
end results.                                                                    
Annual general meeting                                                          
The annual general meeting of the members of Shoprite will be held at 9:15 on   
Monday, 23 October 2006 at the company"s registered office, Corner William Dabs 
and Paarl Roads, Brackenfell, South Africa, to transact the business as stated  
in the notice of the annual general meeting forming part of the annual report.
